The Great "ism" Evening
by Rev. Kirby Williams
Categorizing and reviewing the various interpretations of the Apocalypse.
Text: Rev. 1:1-3
Date: 04/01/2012, the Evening service.
Series: "Revelation" Part 55
Occasion: Palm Sunday
Description:
Throughout our study of Revelation, I have refused to discuss the various "isms" used to categorize the interpretations of this extensive and sometimes difficult prophecy. By "isms" I mean views like Preterism, Premillennialism, Postmillennialism, Amillennialism, etc. We have specifically done this so we can more closely hear what Scripture is saying rather than "pigeon-holing" our beliefs in one or the other highly complex and confusing "isms". But throughout the study (spanning several years now), I have continually received requests for at least one evening during which we put our study into perspective and discuss the "isms". Well that evening has finally arrived. Before we continue with the glorious imagery of the new heaven, the new earth, and the new Jerusalem, we can put the discord of the various "isms" behind us. So this entire study will be a comparison of the various ways the book of Revelation has been interpreted and the broad categories that have been established.
